What humanity is discovering, one story at a time

A fun, hopeful daily journal about what people are discovering with AI and quantum computing, checked against the original research every time.

Every day, somewhere, a team of people uses artificial intelligence or a quantum computer to learn something nobody knew the day before. A molecule that kills a stubborn infection. A city mapped under a rainforest canopy. A flood forecast for a river that has never had a stream gauge. Most of these stories never reach the people they could cheer up, because they are buried in journals or lost under a pile of product announcements.

Ai Discovery News exists to bring them to you, one at a time, and to be honest about each one.

What we cover

We do not cover AI the technology. We cover what people accomplish with it. Each day of the week leads with a different field: medicine and health on Monday, science and discovery on Tuesday, climate and the planet on Wednesday, engineering and materials on Thursday, history and archaeology on Friday, and quantum computing on Saturday. On Sunday, The Weekly Discovery gathers the week into one email.

A story only runs here if three things are true. The AI, or the quantum computer, has to have done real work, not tidied up a paper. The result has to be checkable, in a published paper, a registered trial, a regulatory filing or a system you can see working. And it has to matter to people.

Hopeful, and honest about it

We are optimists, but we do not do hype. A result in mice is not a treatment, a preprint is not peer review, and a lab demonstration is not a product. Every story tells you how close the result is to people, how strong the evidence is, and what it does not show yet. When we are wrong, the correction is dated and stays on the page.

How a story gets here

  • Find. Ai Discovery News runs its own research desk. Every day it reads journals, preprint servers, trial registries, agencies and university newsrooms in all six fields, finds the original source behind every announcement, and reports back to the editor with the news ideas worth your time.
  • Check. Every number, name and date in a story is traced back to that original source. Anything that cannot be confirmed comes out.
  • Approve. The editor, J. Morgan Pankey, reads each story and its sources and decides whether it runs. Nothing is published without that sign-off.
  • Follow. The biggest stories join the Breakthrough Tracker, so the story does not end at the headline.

Corrections, tips and press

Spotted something wrong, or know about a discovery we should cover? Write to the editor at publisher@aidiscoverynews.com. Every correction is dated on the story it fixes.

Reading a story

Three labels on every story

So you can tell a lab result from something already changing lives, without reading the paper yourself.

FarMidNearNow

How close to people

Far is real science with no timeline to people yet. Mid is years away on a credible path. Near is within about two years. Now is in use or approved today.

AnimalHuman trialPeer reviewedIn use

How strong the evidence is

Medicine climbs from early lab work to animal studies, human trials and approval. Every other field climbs from preprint to peer review, independent validation and real-world use.

AI: centralAI: significantAI: supporting

How much the AI did

Central means the result would not exist without it. Significant means it did a large share of the work. Supporting means it helped people who did the rest.

A publication that does its own research.

Ai Discovery News runs its own research desk. Every day it reads journals, preprint servers, trial registries and agency filings across six fields, and reports back to the editor with the discoveries worth your time. Every claim is checked against its original source, and the editor approves every story before it is published. When we get something wrong, the correction is dated and stays on the page.

The Weekly Discovery

A week of discoveries, one email, every Sunday.

The week's verified discoveries, what moved on the tracker, and one big question answered. If it was a quiet week in a field, we say so instead of filling the space.
